Anyone remember the show Family Matters? Steve Urkel? Well, its intro song started: “It’s a rare condition, this day and age/to read any good news on the newspaper page.”
Pretty prescient for 2020, right? That is to say, it’s nigh impossible to get online these days without almost immediately get bummed out. With so much divisiveness, unrest, and bad news in the world, it’d be nice to treat your brain to a reprieve. If only there were a URL we could visit to escape (if only momentarily) our contentious reality.
Thankfully, such a place does exist for members of the Cooking Light Diet: our Facebook Community. There, members discuss milestones, offer up favorite recipe suggestions, and generally uplift one another toward their shared goal of eating healthier. It’s a wonderful space devoid of negativity where people come together and bond over their shared love of food.
Don’t take our word for it, though! Take a look for yourself. We’ve compiled some of the best posts from the group over the past month. Nothing but positive, food-based goodness. For more wholesome content, make sure and join our Community. And if you like the meals they’re eating, be sure and subscribe to the Cooking Light Diet using the button at the bottom of this page.
Food So Good You Won’t Have Time To Photo It
Sometimes their meals are so delicious that Cooking Light Diet members gobble them up before remembering to take a picture. At least, that’s what happened to Debra Sivley Stevens one Friday evening in July.
Quick Breakfast Ideas
Melissa Fitzgerald Karlovitch loves the smoothies in her menus, from this recipe exclusive to the Cooking Light Diet…
…to this recipe perfect for a hot summer’s day.
Did We Mention Weight-Loss Success?
Not everyone uses their Cooking Light Diet meal plans to lose weight. A lot of folks just need help deciding what to make for dinner. But when they do intend to lose weight, they usually have success. Just ask Colleen Margaret Tippie. Congrats, Colleen!
All The Meals
Whether you’re wanting to plan out almost every meal or just need sporadic meal-planning assistance, the Cooking Light Diet can help. Lori Dominick uses her menus to plate up beautiful breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. (Read more about Lori’s success with our service here.)
Kids Love The Meals, Too
What’s the point of subscribing to a meal plan if you’re not going to make food the whole family enjoys? Not a problem, says mother of four Sue Given. She’s able to consistently serve up meals that beat the summertime heat and appeal to her teenagers.
Restaurant-Quality Recipes
Just because your favorite restaurant may be offering limited service during a global pandemic doesn’t mean you can’t have amazing meals at home! That’s what Susanne Hensel-Goodwin said about her Steak Tips with Peppered Mushroom Gravy.
And speaking of restaurant quality, we’d be remiss if we didn’t also mention a meal Ashley Belbeck said was one of the best she’s had in a hot minute.
Happy Campers
Sometimes you want to try a new recipe, but the rest of the family may not be on board. So…you make it anyway, and they love it! That’s what happened with Joyce Van Huis, her husband, Bob, and this meal.
Old Recipes, New Tricks
Similarly, sometimes it’s nice to make conventional recipes with a twist. That’s why I served my family these Smashed Chili Cheeseburgers for Father’s Day. Though a departure from the cheeseburgers they’re used to, it was a recipe my whole family embraced—and wants me to make again soon!
Possible Guinness Record Holder?
Cooking Light Diet member Donna West believes she found the fastest meal ever in this Gnocchi with Shrimp, Asparagus, and Pesto dish. We’re still waiting on a callback from Guinness to confirm, but in the meantime we’re glad you loved it, Donna!
Smart Kid!
The kids are alright, folks. Beth Mesa said she was restarting her Cooking Light Diet journey with a little help from her son. Wise beyond his years, he knows everything is better with cookies.
Recipes Three Ways
Another positive about the Facebook Community is that our members recognize some meals are so delicious they can be enjoyed anytime of day. That’s why Susanne Hensel-Goodwin had this lunch recipe for dinner. And seriously, can you blame her?
Use Up Your Fresh Produce
It’s always great when you can incorporate fresh vegetables from your local farmers market or CSA into your meals. And that’s exactly what Liz Striegl did, to great results.
People Helping People
When members have questions about recipes, they can always count on the Community to provide helpful answers. That’s what happened when Ashley Belbeck wanted advice about a new breakfast recipe she was trying. Glad it worked out, Ashley!
Wholesome Content Alert
Last but not least, what’s wholesome content without an appearance from a tiny human? Dr. Lauren Appell Aronson introduced the Community to its newest member, Isaac. We’re so happy to meet you, Isaac!
